Benjamin says he needs to do more than just go back to his playing weight from last season.

“I’m a new kid. I’m all red-faced sweating and thinking, ‘I’m never going to do this again,’” said Fauria, who joined the Lions as an unsigned college free agent from UCLA. “It wasn’t until two veterans and the coup de grace — (wide receiver) Calvin Johnson — came up to me and said, ‘Big Joe, keep dancing, man. It’s great.’

“So I’m like, ‘Ok, I’m going to undermine my head coach. Great.’”

Fauria said Schwartz “warmed up” to his shtick later that season after a three-touchdown game against Cleveland.

“Around practice, I would score a touchdown once in a while and do a little preview of what I was going to do that weekend,” Fauria said. “I was pushing some buttons, but Jim Schwartz finally jumped on the bandwagon. He said, ‘Joe, keep it up. It’s ok with me now.’”

Fauria admits Schwartz’s replacement Jim Caldwell wasn’t a fan either after he “twerked” to celebrate his first touchdown in an injury-plagued 2014 campaign.

Benjamin had a fantastic rookie year in 2014, making 73 catches for 1,008 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. But he suffered a torn ACL in 2015 and was inconsistent in 2016.

Benjamin says he needs to do more than just go back to his playing weight from last season.

“I need to be in the best shape of my life. That’s what we’re getting to,” Benjamin said. “I have to get back to being dominant.”

Despite Benjamin’s inconsistent play and weight Cheap Jerseys Mall concerns, the Panthers picked up his fifth-year option on his rookie contract, keeping him in Carolina through the 2018 season.
