Pick your adjective to describe how bad Green Bay’s secondary was last season. Most of them would fit. The Packers allowed a league-worst 8.1 yards per attempt and ranked 31th in pass defense. The Cheap Jerseys AUStralia team declined to address that in free agency but spent a pair of second-round picks on Washington cornerback Kevin King and N.C. State safety Josh Jones, and the latter will work in behind Ha-Ha Clinton Dix and Morgan Bennett.
Green Bay lost Micah Hyde via free agency but brought Davon House back in return, and at least one from the combination of Damarious Randall, Quinten Rollins and Ladarius Gunter needs to step up and be better.
Those cornerbacks can’t be that bad again if the Packers want to make that run to the Super Bowl.
Corners and safeties under McDermott, in theory, should benefit from more zone coverage. But the secondary features several new faces — as far as starters go, only corner Ronald Darby and potential nickel man Kevon Seymour are retained as guys who played in Ryan’s more challenging, man coverage-based scheme.
Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer, the safeties acquired in free agency to replace Aaron Williams and Corey Graham, will be needed more as ballhawks than run-supporters. Both are capable. In contrast, the corners who were left on islands in Ryan’s scheme will be more involved in rush defense.
That said, rookie first-rounder Tre’Davious White will have an immediate impact as a likely starter opposite Darby. Newcomers Shareece Wright, Leonard Johnson and Charles James Cheap Jerseys Cn will earn reps at corner, too.
The Vikings announced earlier this week that Randy Moss would be inducted into the team’s Ring of Honor on Sept. 11. Wednesday, he talked about the honor with the media. But the most emotional moment came when he was asked what he would say to his former coach Dennis Green, who passed away in Cheap High Quality Soccer Jerseys July of 2016:
A disciple of Bill Walsh, Green’s 1998 Vikings went 15-1, setting the NFL record for most points in a season. The record now belongs to Peyton Manning and the 2013 Denver Broncos.
During that season, Moss pulled down 69 receptions for over 1,300 yards while collecting 17 touchdowns, the most in the NFL.
The Yankees (38-29) provided the opportunity last week, with a disastrous seven-game California road trip that produced just one win against the Angels and zero wins against the A’s.
And the Red Sox (39-30) took advantage of the opportunity, going Cheap Ireland Rugby Jerseys 4-2 last week — including two wins in three road games against the AL-leading Astros — to pull into a virtual tie atop the standings. The Yankees are a couple measly percentage points in front of the Red Sox (.567 to .565) because they’ve played two fewer games to this point.
The Warriors aren’t an aberration. They’re a reflection of the trend. A lot of people who deeply love the game have written exhaustively of “The Process,” the nickname assigned to former GM Sam Hinkie’s supposed rebuild of the 76ers. But does rebuilding by continually showing up in the lottery room cough, tanking, cough, cough and picking near the top of the draft lead teams anywhere but back to the lottery room?
Three weeks from the 2017 All-Star Game, three Houston Astros are in position to start the game July 11 at Marlins Park, according to updated fan voting announced Tuesday by MLB.
The Diamondbacks felt like nothing more than a punchline over the past few seasons. Yet, they currently hold a firm lead on a Wild Card spot. What’s changed in Arizona? They’ve had one of the most productive offenses in baseball up to this point. The Diamondbacks have scored the fifth-most runs in the league (342), and they’re in the top 10 by BA, HR, RBI, R, and SB. That sounds like a team capable Cheap Jarome Iginla Jerseys of scoring a lot of runs.
The usual suspects are contributing to these results. Paul Goldschmidt is on pace to have one of the best seasons of his career. Similarly, Jake Lamb has built on a productive 2016, and it appears that he’s taken another step forward. Brandon Drury, David Peralta, and Chris Owings are all performing at or above league-average production. These pieces together have given Arizona a potent offense.
Perhaps even more surprising has been the success of Arizona’s starting rotation. Zack Greinke has rebounded from a disappointing 2016, and he’s looking more like the pitcher the Diamondbacks thought they were acquiring. However, Greinke isn’t the only story here. Three of the other four starters in the Diamondbacks rotation are giving the team above league-average production.
Robbie Ray has been the most impressive of this group. Over 13 starts, Ray has gone 7-3 with a 2.62 ERA. He’s striking out a career-high 11.7 batters per nine, and he’s surrendered zero earned runs in four of his last five starts.
