The Chicago Bears signed quarterback Mike Glennon to a low-risk, high-reward deal, yet it has strangely received the most criticism of any move in what has been a bad offseason in the Windy City. The team s signings of Dion Sims, Marcus Cooper, Quintin Demps, Markus Wheaton, and Kendall Wright were all bigger flubs than landing a quarterback to one of the cheapest contracts for a would-be NFL starter.

The highest odds at the No. 1 overall pick are headed to the Brooklyn Nets, who have all but clinched the league s worst record at 14-56, light years behind the next-worst teams. Take Warren Moon. He lit it up in a high-volume passing offense Jerseys For Cheap for much of his career, but was only 3-7 in six playoff trips over 15 years. The postseason record wasn’t held against Moon, nor should it have been. Before him, similar credentials didn’t hurt Dan Fouts, either. Forget about which Hall of Famers you might have thought weren’t worthy, and remember when considering them all, Romo belongs.

What will help Romo is the fact that, like all those other quarterbacks, he’s a good, nice and charitable guy. With local media so critical to the process of every Hall campaign, being professional and personable for a long time in the same market goes a long way.

When taking time to look back on what Romo meant to the Cowboys, more should start to see it Jerry Jones’ way. Romo is far more underappreciated than he is overrated. The perception of him has been skewed by a few spotlight mistakes and constant scrutiny. A less hot take-y examination would discover plenty of clutch plays and the numbers to back it up.

Romo did everything he could be to considered among the best-ever Cowboys. It would be a mistake to not consider him among the best-ever quarterbacks.

In what may go down as one of the most lackluster matchups on the entire season, the Giants were able to defeat the Eagles on the leg of Josh Brown. The veteran kicker booted five field goals on Sunday to outscore Philadelphia in a game between two teams that seem headed for nowhere at this point. The Eagles and Giants defenses were able to stop scores, but both offenses failed to produce scores.

The Eagles lost Michael Vick again to injury, while his replacement, Matt Barkley, put in a dismal effort. The Giants were able to take advantage of the Eagles’ lack of scoring and were able to get by with just field goals. The Eagles were able to score first lone touchdown in two games — albeit on the defensive side of the ball — because of one of the worst long snaps in NFL history by Zak DeOssie, which went well over punter Steve Weatherford’s head and led to a Najee Goode fumble recovery for a touchdown.

Ed Valentine of Big Blue View is pleased with the improvement of the offense over the last two weeks:

[Bess] muffed the short punt at the 45 yard line, inside of Chiefs territory, and Kansas City recovered. Ugh. With seven minutes to play in the game, things were starting to look gloomy. The Browns forced another punt, though, and got the ball back with four minutes to play and no timeouts.

For weeks, the Denver Broncos were considered Super Bowl favorites. Coming out of Week 7, when the Broncos suffered their first loss of the season at the hand of the Colts, the questions were about which direction the team was heading.

It’s tough to get a clear picture of the NFL standings after seven weeks, but things are starting to take form as midseason approaches.

Here’s a look the division-by-division standings through seven weeks:

We’re not quite halfway through the season.

Jay Cutler and Sam Bradford headlined a rough weekend of injuries. The Bears starter suffered what’s believed to be a serious groin injury. The Rams’ fourth-year quarterback may have suffered a torn ACL, according to a Sunday evening report from Chris Mortensen.

Chicago now pins its hopes on Josh McCown, a tall order for chasing Green Bay in the NFC North. St. Louis has Kellen Clemens and whatever help it can scrape off the waiver wire. Vince Young’s available, but a reunion with Jeff Fisher just doesn’t seem like it’s in the cards.

Each situation is a little different. However, it doesn’t look like the next Tom Brady is waiting in the wings anywhere. Some teams are better off than others.

The Minnesota Vikings have also been terrible on defense, allowing 31.6 points per game to their opponents this season. After getting mixed results from both Christian Ponder and Matt Cassel, the Vikings are turning to their third quarterback of the season this Monday night in former Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Josh Freeman.

Freeman has had some great seasons in the NFL, but struggled under head coach Greg Schiano and was eventually waived.

The numbers just aren’t pretty Youth NFL Cheap Jerseys for either of these teams. Minnesota is 2-11 SU over its last 13 games and New York is 1-12 over its Youth Authentic Cheap Jerseys last 13. Minnesota has enjoyed some success against the New York Giants with a 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS record over their last five games against the G-men, but their most recent matchup came in 2010.

Dwyane Wade: Bulls must right ship as cohesive unit

In his 14th NBA season, Dwyane Wade has seen all the highs and lows the NBA has to offer.

But in the wake of the Chicago Bulls’ fifth straight loss, a 100-80 defeat to the Boston Celtics on Sunday afternoon, the future Hall of Famer acknowledged what Bulls fans have known for weeks: Coach Fred Hoiberg and his team are in a difficult spot as they try to win games and make the playoffs while developing players for the future in the process.

After some initial success following a trade deadline deal that sent Taj Gibson and Doug McDermott to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for Cameron Payne, Joffrey Lauvergne and Anthony Morrow, the Bulls have played lifelessly in five straight defeats.

When asked if the Bulls’ commitment to developing younger players can frustrate the rest of the team, Wade was diplomatic in his response but acknowledged some frustration with the circumstances.

“I have to get with coach,” Wade said. “I have to get with Jimmy, find a way so that I can be better as a player. The rest of it doesn’t matter at this point. I don’t think talking is really the thing, calling somebody out isn’t a thing. We’re here, man. It’s unfortunate. We got to figure out a way to win games no matter what. That’s all it is, or we’re going to walk our way into the summer a little early and go from there. So we got to find a way.”

Wade also noted that, aside from a loss to the Orlando Magic on Wednesday, the Bulls’ losses in the five-game slide have come to teams gearing up for the playoffs. Wade knows his team is in a different kind of preparation for the future at the moment.

“They’re ready,” Wade said of the Bulls’ recent opponents. “They know what they got to do. We’re still experimenting. Like I said the other day, we’re going to take some lumps; some of them are going to be big lumps. Some of them are going to be small lumps. Tonight was a big one.”27

The answer is that Van Mil can’t locate as well as Young.

There haven’t been five tight ends taken in the first two rounds of the draft since 2006, but that may change. That was the year that featured two in the first round in Vernon Davis going sixth overall to the 49ers and Marcedes Lewis being picked 28 by the Jaguars. That could happen again this year.

Alabama’s O.J. Howard locked up a spot in the first round long before the combine. Coming off an impressive Senior Bowl, Howard had exceptional timing numbers with the fastest three-cone drill (6.85 seconds) and 20-yard shuttle (4.16 seconds) for a tight end. Oh, and he ran a 4.51 40-yard dash at 6’6 and 251 pounds.

There is a chance we get to five tight ends in the first two rounds like in 2006. Miami’s David Njoku may not have had an overly impressive showing, but the big-play receiver who averaged 16.2 yards per catch last season should find a spot in the first round. Teams looking for their version of Jordan Reed could go after a player like Bucky Hodges of Virginia Tech or Evan Engram of Ole Miss as well.

The answer is that Van Mil can’t locate as well as Young.

The question is how a 7’1 pitcher can’t be as successful as a young Randy Johnson, who was 6’10, threw just as hard as Van Mil, and would have had troubles hitting a bus with his fastball from 60 feet away when he was younger.

The answer is that Van Mil doesn’t have a breaking ball that’s remotely comparable to Johnson’s slider.

If it sounds simplistic, it is. But it’s always worth remembering, and Van Mil provides the perfect opportunity. When analysts wanted to know why Young was successful throwing 85 mph a decade ago, they found half of the answer, and the other half was implied. The perceived velocity made Young’s fastball play up, and he had the command to put baseballs where hitters weren’t expecting baseballs. It seems like the command might be the less important reason for his success, except it most certainly is not.21

NFL insider Steve Smith says Ravens will release Elvis Dumervil

Elvis Dumervil, a guy I’d call one of the most underrated edge rushers of all time, may be best known for the notorious fax incident. His impact as a playmaking pass rusher, however, is something the Ravens will truly miss.

Baltimore, in its efforts to get younger, decided to cut the 33-year-old Dumervil. This was first reported by former Ravens wide receiver Steve Smith.

Nonetheless, one can never have too many edge rushers, which means Dumervil will be a hot commodity on the free agent market. At this point in his career, the linebacker is really only a situational pass rusher. However, in the right role, we’ve seen Dumervil can still get the job done. Look for an established contender with at least one quality pass rusher to target Dumervil and line him up on the opposite side. The Ravens did it with Dumervil and Terrell Suggs, and the pairing worked perfectly early on.

In previous years the market for right tackle has been about half as lucrative as the one for the left side of the offensive line. Neither Bryan Bulaga with the Green Bay Packers nor Mitchell Schwartz with the Kansas City Chiefs received deals worth more than $7 million per year, while left tackles Trent Williams and Cordy Glenn each have deals that average more than $14 million.

The question is whether Wagner’s contract represents a rise for the entire offensive tackle market, or the shifting thought that the right tackle isn’t half as important as left tackle. Will the next blockbuster deal for a left tackle be closer to Williams’ five-year, $68 million deal in Washington? Or will it come close to doubling the deal received by Wagner?

While Wagner’s deal is higher than some expected, it’s still reasonable enough that the other offensive tackles will likely be worth less, even though they can provide an instant boost to a starting offensive line. Among the other tackles on the market are Andrew Whitworth, Russell Okung, Ryan Clady, and Riley Reiff.24

Williams has averaged 16.6 points and 8.2 assists in his career since debuting with Utah in 2005.

GOLDEN State Warriors star Kevin Durant faces an indefinite injury lay-off after spraining a knee ligament but could return before the end of the regular season, the NBA team said.

Durant hobbled off the court during the Warriors’ defeat to the Washington Wizards on Tuesday after a collision with teammate Zaza Pachulia.

“It has been determined that Durant suffered a grade 2 medial collateral ligament sprain and a tibial bone bruise,” the Warriors said following a scan.

“We will continue to work with leading specialists to gather additional information through clinical examination and sequential testing to determine the best course of action and next steps.” Embiid has not played since January 27. His knee swelled after he took part in a workout last week.

“As our medical team and performance staff continue their diligence in the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of Joel’s injury, we will provide any pertinent updates when available.” The move comes after last week’s announcement by the 76ers that Australian standout Ben Simmons, the top overall pick in last year’s NBA Draft, would miss his entire rookie season because his broken right foot has not completely healed. He underwent surgery last October for the break, suffered in the team’s final pre-season training camp workout.

Down the line, Lue could use Williams in the starting lineup, but for now, Williams is happy to contribute any way he can. “It was kind of an easy decision for me,” he said. “I definitely looked at a couple other teams. But once Dallas informed me they kind of wanted to go in a different direction, the Cavs were the first team that jumped out at me. A lot of times you overthink things. I kind of went with my first thought.”

Williams has averaged 16.6 points and 8.2 assists in his career since debuting with Utah in 2005.

He and Korver were teammates for three years with the Jazz, reaching the Western Conference finals in 2006-07.25
